We believe that many of the problems associated with our healthcare system today are tied to the overuse of insurance. That is not to say that we are against insurance. We just believe that it should be used properly. Just like we use all other forms of insurance. When life’s unexpected events occur or a major illness comes along, we should have a plan to protect ourselves from financial disaster. For this purpose, we encourage all of our members to carry some form of “wrap around” health coverage. This will help cover services that True North Direct Primary Care cannot provide, such as hospitalizations, surgeries, emergency and specialty care.
Supplementing your direct primary care membership with a high deductible insurance plan is a great way to cover you and your family for catastrophic events. Medical cost-sharing or health share plans are also good options to consider. Some of these plans are even priced at a discount as they are built specifically to pair with a DPC membership.
The care you receive as part of your membership with True North Direct Primary Care eliminates the need for most insurance claims. With the discounted prices on medications, labs and imaging; along with reduced ER and specialist visits, many patients will find that their overall healthcare spend is much less with a True North DPC membership.
